Default Subaru 2001 Bugeye Engine Swap

Hi,
The Head Gasket has gone on my 2001 Bug-eye Subaru Impreza 2.0 GX. I can get an engine out of a 2004 2.0 GX will this engine fit my car? I don't want to have to change the heads or anything like that and want all the wiring to fit.

Thanks Duncan

Why not replace the head gaskets on the existing engine if you're taking the engine out anyway?

Then engines done about 120k it was run for about a month with the head gasket leaking . Eventually it blew the radiator apart. It doesn't rattle or smoke but i'm not sure that I trust it anymore.

You could get the engine code off the car being broken and check to see if it is the same as yours. Shown on vin plate under bonnet.

If the original isn't knocking or smoking then probably worth removing the heads and having a look, you can do this with engine in place on a non-turbo. Then decide if you fix or change.

Also, 120k isn't much on a non-turbo, they can often easily go to 200k.
