Default Not heat new manifold risk.

Hello everyone, i was wondering I want to buy an new gt spec manifold. But I don't want to heat wrap it, by doing this will the heat from the manifold cause any damage to other components in the engine by? i'm abit worried because the standard manifold has heat shields to block away the heat from other components.

Its not just damaging other components, its also how much under bonnet temps will rise as a result which is not ideal

Why do you not want to wrap it? Be crazy not too as the heat under bonnet from the manifold will be high, if its because you dont feel confident in wrapping it then drop it into a tuning company and they will do it for you.

it's not i'm not confident wrapping it. I wrapped manifold before in my previous car. From my experience after an long while the wrap will wear and tear. Then i have to take off the manifold and re-wrap it again, which i could not be brother to do the second time.

Is anyone out there running upgraded manifold with not heat wrap? let me now about your experience.

Mine is going strong after many years of hard abuse use the best quality wrap you can find and wrap it properly with wire ties and doubt you will be doing it again for a long time

Jack - I read some where that ceramic is good in insulating the heat, but not as good as the wrap. I read also the after couple of years the ceramic starts to flake off, and the most important thing of them all is ceramic is much much more expensive than wrap.

I thought it was the other way round, ceramic coating is more expensive because it keeps the heat in better and lasts longer then wrap lol!? Anyway your best bet would be to ceramic coat them and dei heat wrap on top this will ensure the heats kept in as best as poss and will also help spool but this in turn increases chances of the manifold cracking when you wrap them lol, swings and roundabouts i suppose.

Im fairly sure you shouldnt wrap if they are ceramic coated

You may be right, it is much under debate on a few sites cos ive looked into it. But my thinking is 2 layers of proven heat insulation must be better than one, as for longevity who knows until someone trys. All i know is that it is a good idea and generally accepted to do one or the other as it keeps under bonnet temps down and aids spool, but if you are going to do it its something that should be done properly i.e a proper thick barrier of ceramic coating as opposed to a thin coat to make it look pretty. Or proper dei heat wrap instead of the cheap stuff that looks pretty on ebay.ive always used dei heat wrap and recomend it highly , i even seen it put round a coolant rad hose online and i did the the same on my old evo top rad hose as it passed right above my cold air intake and really does keep a load of the heat in!

Just use DEI Titanium wrap, not cheap but effective in longlivety and quality, not cheap stuff that turns into paper after a year or 2
