Question Sti Hatchback decatting

Hi all,

Anyone say there be much gain between a cobra cat back exhaust 3" and the same exhaust but adding the prodrive one cat removal pipe? Plus remap again. Currently running 329.6bhp with exhaust and CAI Mishimoto.

Cheers all

👍🏻🚀👍🏻

I'll be able to tell you on Friday, mine is being mapped with an H&S full decat and mishimoto CAI on Thursday. I'm expecting 350-360.

I'll b happy with any increase tbf. First remap from cat back and induction kit gave us 329.6bhp. So that made a nice difference and improved torque levels. Nice curve to help ring land failure, rather than the immediate peak and drop off as standard map

To be fair mine ran absolutely brilliant for 30,200 miles like that. but a batch of fuel ruined it, wrecked the engine. so in all honesty mine was run as far as possible on the std turbo and internals. I'd not do it again 350-360 would be enough of a recommendation to anyone remapping them

Even on a forged rebuild? I'm not being flippant, genuinely interested as mine is just run in after a new block with forged pistons was fitted and was wondering what I might see from the remap.

Cheers for everyone's advice, I'm having it done by Mark at THWaites, he's a safe side of mapper 🙏🏻 I'm happy with how they go, just like the noises and burbles tbf. Like to ensure its set up after mods as don't want to fork out on bills without trying to prevent it 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Just to let you know I got 371/411 today mapped by Bob Rawle with the mods mentioned above (I also fitted an HRC fuel pump, but most people don't think it necessary)

Hi guys just wondering what sort of power you think i would get from these mods i list on a 2.5 hatch. Forged pistons, rods ,head studs and so on.

Racing clutch
Light weight flywheel
Equal length exhaust manifold
Up rated fuel pump
3-inch full de-cat exhaust
And of course full re map.

Thanks Guys

depends on what turbo you go for, how good an engine build it is, how good the manifold and exhaust is etc etc

My figures are about as good as you'll get on the std parts. As Rob said, he managed another 10bhp. Subaru 4 You who built my engine were impressed with the result, as I was expecting more like 350-360.

What mods do you have to get those figures mate. Do you find that is anuff power our do you want more.

I'm not sure weather to go for new turbo and all the works and go for 450 hp our be happy with 350 to 370.

As above, had a new short block fitted with forged drop ins, cossie gaskets and ARP studs.

Once the above was run in I had the mishimoto CAI, H&S 2.5" full decat and HRC255 fuel pump fitted and then mapped.

I've only had the car 2 days with this power, so I'm very happy at the moment. The car hasn't run correctly since I bought it last August and my last scooby was about 5 years ago so I can't compare with that.

It's my daily driver and I can say that the torque makes it easy to bimble around in 4/5/6 at low RPM, it's a joy. I can't see me going for more power as it's quick enough, next step might be the Prodrive springs that are being discussed in the members gallery thread

Remap done today and went from 329.6bhp to 346.1 bhp. The only change was fitted a prodrive decat pipe to remove the second cat like on the 330s.

Goes well and the depth from the exhaust with rumble sounds awesome

Well happy and definitely recommend TDR

Torque & BHP before and after

After 2nd decat pipe fitted

Yeah. That's it now. I was told that hatch engines need remapping to reduce engine failure issues, but liked the exhaust, filter, valve noise.
So thought get it done to be on the safe side

I only go to work and back and don't drive it like I stole it. So hopefully it'll b safer now

I bet that goes well, I used to own an old sti and even at 265 bhp, they shift. They also sound nice with a cat or two removed, nice burble with the odd pop and bang.

Top place that TDR at Warwicksire
