No end to the troubles on my JDM Blobeye STI.
Firstly, they needed welded at the neck on the left cylinder bank as they had cracked badly - welded well and it seems to have worked.
Then, a day after getting the car back from the welder, it seems that one of the studs holding the manifold to the heads failed causing a stinking blow.
Stud was replaced and I've been driving about for around a week now. Last night, blowing starts again and is pretty bad. I wonder if the stud(s) have failed again. I didn't replace the gaskets when the headers were put back on as they were relatively new, but wonder if this could be causing it.
What else could be causing the studs/nuts and ultimately the headers to keep blowing all the time!

No they weren't smoke tested. Do you mean after having them welded?
Also, a wee sub-question if anyone knows. Seems that my VF37 is spooling slow as hell as well, way after 3000rpm

Yes I would have leak tested them after welding them to ensure they were done correctly as this will also effect the back pressure. The turbo may also be under preforming due to the leaks.
Has the car been de catted and mapped ?

My money would be on a few things.
Leak is getting worse and it would be best to get a new set with gaskets.
Or the turbo is slowly on its way out.
The other thing that is worth questioning is was work has been done on the car after it has been mapped as it may need a map tweak

Give Alyn at ASP a ring you might be surprised at the cost new it's not worth importing given the fees. I have just got a new set of RCM headers from Alyn to replace my GT spec ones that gave up.
