Knocking noise+low vac+rich condtion

Knocking noise+low vac+rich condtion
Hey guys,
Just got my 1992 WRX back together with a used shortblock that was running good coming out of the last car. Anyways within 25 km of driving it, it now has a knock (not a terrible) but a light one. Also VAC is at -0.6 bar and you can smell lots of fuel. Idles rough as well. Im hoping its a tensioner, which could effect timing causing low vacuum. even though its brand new.If its a rod knock then yay-.-
