Default Blow off valve, dump valve

So having owned a 2002 bugeye wagon for 2 years i am having a few niggles.

When i purchased the car it came with a dump valve and an ebay middle and rear stainless box. Was a bit violent for my family car so fitted a baffle into the rear pipe. (i know poor show).

2 years in and i have noticed issues with the dump valve. I have a noticable slight loss of power and the valve sounds off at any load, especially once the car has heated up with the exception of neutral. Faulty??

Appreciate any help, and am mindful that i am asking constant questions. Having been an Alfa Romeo owner for the past 11 years it was normally me the knowledgable owner dishing out answers on forums.

thanks

Neil

Back to a standard re-circ valve would be a good first step. Cheap enough off eBay or check the breakers on here.

Springs have given up in the dump valve.
Bin the evil thing and re-fit a standard recirculation valve.

I think you should buy my baileys vta, because it adds about 50 bhp and sounds like a rally car. But to be serious take the advice in the posts above.

Ill give you an honest answer, as that seems to be what you want.

Your BOV must be faulty, it wont be great for the car to keep running with it faulty.
You have 2 choices, replace it for a new one or replace it for a atandard re-circ one.

If you like the noise a BOV makes then great, lots of people do, just make sure you buy a decent good quality one such as HKS or Forge.

If you are not fussed about the sound, grab a standard re-circ valve and put it back on, plently will be around on ebay.
All depends on what YOU want, but either way get it changed asap.

Thanks for all the replies. Standard would be great. TBH I normally try to avoid the hiss unless on a main road as I don't really go with it. A good exhaust note but again not silly will do fine. Going to hopefully swap out the eBay special for a sti back end or if I sell my gtv v6 I can put a little towards a great custom. My alfa runs 2x600cell hand made cats and four exit stainless and sounds great but sensible when it needs to be.

Back to BOV. eBay has an STI version, would it fit????

Again thanks
