Hi, and welcome to ownership, sorry it's not been an easy ride for you so far.
First of all, I would suggest if the car is throwing a CEL, don't just reset it and drive it hard again.
These cars tend to throw a CEL for a reason, and resetting it and pushing the engine may only exacerbate the underlying problem - worst case, you could end up with a blown engine.
The 2.5's like the one in your car are (unfortunately) notorious for head gasket or piston ring failure so there's even more reason to treat the car carefully if it throws up error codes.

Depending on where you look these fault codes can mean different things.
C0042 *might* be a power supply voltage warning. Low power on the earlier newage (and probably your car too) can cause your fuel pump to work less efficiently which can cause the car to run lean, so assuming it's nothing alarming may actually be incorrect.

However, on another site, it says:
C0042 Brake pedal position (BPP) sensor, circuit A
C0071 2WD/4WD wheel drive status input
C0074 Requested driving torque

I'd say take it to an expert, this sounds potentially dangerous and I would try and avoid driving the car until you can have it looked at.

Have you had a read of this? https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...lt-lights.html

Might provide some pointers, but you really need a dealer/specialist on the case.
