mot failure sheet below, please help!
So here are the things the scoob failed on.
Quick bit of history:
2001 bugeye wrx. Cars been off the road for 18 months. It's had a new engine, sti inlet manifold, sti up pipe, sti intercooler, standard dv and cat back exhaust. Recently had constant error codes p1507 (Idle Control System Fault (Fail Safe Mode) and p0507 ( Idle Air Control System RPM Higher Than Expected)
Admittedly some of them are easy, i can't believe I didn't make time to check the car before the mot, missing wheel nuts
Headlights may just be bulbs,
But points 3 and 6?
I thought i had fixed the codes, but they came back during test with p1507 and p0507 again.
where is the steering column bush and how do you get to it to replace it?
The cars had second hand idle control valve, slackened off throttle cable, new coil pack and spark plugs

points 004 & 005 =
Point 003 - i get a sneaky feeling that it could be either steering rack moves before it moves the wheels when you rotate the steering wheel i.e. floating or could be a bush conecting the rack to the steering column shaft. Could you not ring the testing station and aske them?

Did you not think to ask what it meant? The person who found the fault is the one to ask. As far as I know the column is a sealed unit. You can't changed anything within it. So if there is play in it you may need a new one. There is a rubber bush/collar in the fire wall but the column is bolted to the dash beam so wouldn't move back and forth.
The only obvious bushes are attaching the rack to subframe.
I'm not surprised they went to town on your car when it turned up in a dangerous condition.

2.1.3:
Method of inspection:
Pull and push the steering wheel in line with the
column. Check for any movement at the centre
of the steering wheel.
Note:
Certain types of steering column (e.g.
those fitted with universal joints or flexible
couplings) may show some movement which is
not due to excessive wear or deterioration.
Reason for rejection:
Excessive steering shaft end float.
