You can buy a system cleaner, or backflush it, don't forget the rad.
Use any coolant designed for alloy engines and with a corrosion inhibitor. Forget Subaru additives, just so much b/s.
The MOST important thing is to refill without airlocking, do a search under my name for a fool proof method.

Anti-corrosion
Isn't it true all coolants contain anti-corrosion additives? I'm in the process of deciding the coolant I have is the correct coolant. Says for modern engines and contains anti-corrosion. As I will change to silicone hoses soon when funds allow I see no point throwing in expensive stuff.
Anyway - only 2 different coolants I have seen is common coolant (glykol) and the more expensive propylen (glykol) coolant.
Is the latter one to use?
