i thought it would be ok but then I started seeing things like

"if you paint the fins on the intercooler it is going to stop the heat dissipating"

"you should leave it as it is, Painting the intercooler can interfere with how efficient it is in dissipating heat to a certain degree"

Nice thin coats and you should I be fine, there will be a lot of airflow so keep the temperatures low

You can paint it, just don't put too much on at once, do light coats until it looks right. It's good for a hiding the front mount behind a grill for stealth. But if it's exposed it will stone chip really bad

I didn't even consider stone chips i want sliver paint, that's going to look twice as tatty when chipped

thanks for the headsup

il have a look to see if there's any paint resistant to stone chips

My one on my 08 Hatch is looking a bit tired.

I have bought an 'STi' stencil and some red paint that matches and also some matt silver VHT paint.

I will correct the few fins that have been bent by stones with a tooth pick, scotchbright the frame and then appy a thin coat of silver and my stencil to give me a new OEM look.

I had the FMIC on my Evo IX MR painted matt black without any issues, I used around 2 coats and the finish was pretty hard wearing with good mesh.

Hope to have mine done this weekend

Or....just put mesh in front of the FMIC to protect it and hide the silver and paint the mesh black - done!

It had sliver mesh on before which dint suit the car ( I suppose it does have a blue front bumper on a white car lol) I was going to spray it black but I think the car looks better when you can see the FMIC.

Spray at a 45 degree angle, so the paint doesn't get too far into the core.
Eastwood radiator paint is nice to use.
