Default Decat or sports cat?

About to map the sti, just got the walbro, filter etc I'm in 2 minds wether to go full decat or sports cat, what will the sacrifice in power be using the sport cat instead of a full decat? Been told to expect up to 350 bhp with the above decatted.

I was in the same position as you a few months back. I bought a standard 2.5 STI and decided to go for a Miltek 3" full decat. Had it on the rollers last week making 340hp with 380 torques. I'll never, never get bored of the sound it makes.

Matt.

I couldn't be arsed with changing it every MOT so went for a sports cat. More refined, less power (though more than stock).

Sports cat vs decat has little difference in power, sports cat will get more torque.

Thing is sports cats seem to be a bit hit and miss come MOT time. The money you save buying a decat should cover any costs come MOT time.

Yeah, may be once, but at 2 hours to change the downpipe plus another 2 to re fit would easily wipe out any saving.

Fit a sports cat from a reputable company and be done with it.

You'll only be missing out on a few bhp anyway.

I had a similar dilemma after my rebuild and decided to keep the PPP sportscat and Prodrive 2.5" system.
Bob Rawle mapped it to 303 bhp and I was advised that the downpipe was holding it back and to fit a full 3" decat.
I did that and fitted a hayward and scott 3" system and bob remapped it to 342 bhp.
Sounds glorious
So in my experience the difference was 40 bhp !
