Default reset ecu

Hi all

I have a 97 jdm wrx

I tried an ecu reset following instructions on here and other sites last night.

I have the 2 green plugs and 2 black plugs under my dash but 1 of the black ones is capped off with something. Also my check engine light doesn't come on at all.

Any ideas

If the CEL doesn't light up then either the bulb has stopped working or been removed so check it first.

Thanks mate.

Wasn't sure if the black plug being capped was somethin to do with it

Neither the green nor the black connectors should be plugged up.

Why did you feel the need to do a reset if I may ask?

I've been suffering overboost after installing headers manifold and up pipe. The had midpipe decat when I got it.

I've replaced all vac lines checkin for a boost leak.

I've been toying with the idea of a mbc to control it but I've been shot down in flames by this site.

Thought a reset might help

Have you checked the ecu to see if it has an aftermarket one fitted?
If you have gone decat then you will suffer over boost without remapping

Fair enough.
I've used a mbc on my old 93WRX and set up properly they are fine but they are primitive and there better solutions, albeit more expensive, to solve issues.

I've had a look at it and unless they've put it in the same housing I reckon its standard
