Default Classic steering cooler - is it needed?

The steering fluid cooler on my classic is pretty badly corroded and I want to deal with it before it rusts through and leaks. Is it really needed? Could I dispose of it completely?

I doubt I'll ever be on a track with my car. Realistically its a very short bit of pipe with no fins to increase its surface area, I doubt it does very much cooling at all.

I'd buy a replacement before trying to run without it. You should be able to get one from a braker for about £30

Ran my classic without it for a year, noticed no difference at all. Maybe hard track driving it might benefit it but It makes no difference what so ever day to day and fast road.

I've took mine off, had no problems at all, was reading on here before I did it and some models don't have the steering fluid cooler fitted anyway, Il have a look at those clips shortly mate

Thanks guys. I'll try it without it. Like you say, not all cars have them.

Thanks again Matthew, let me know how you get on!
