Just had a short friendly exchange in the 'wanted' section regarding the Harvey up pipe. I used the same one with a TD05 20g, an MD321t and an SC46. As it was a two bolt, matched to Harvey's ported manifold/headers, I had to change it when I went to a 3 bolt GT spec gen 2 manifold.
The question is this: other than the 2 bolt/three bolt option did Harvey make a different up pipe to match the bigger turbos? When I told him that I was upgrading the TD05 to an MD321t he didn't try to sell me a different up pipe. Anyone know for sure?

I left my car with Harvey March 2012 for a few months as I was away at the north west , TT , then abroad , he wanted to play with a few ideas , mainly helping in the design for the revised HDI ... Also my standard location MDV Billet with RCM Gen 2 wanted matching ,
As far as I'm aware he has made 1 off up pipes for many diff applications , but the mass produced 2. & 3 bolt who his machinist puts out ( who alyn now uses , are just that ... Any way Harvey took Ill that summer from a fall & the rest is in the History books
RIP fella

Thanks for that info. So the mass produced ones were 'one size fits all' like I thought, but if Harvey produced a number of one-offs then that explains why some people think they are turbo specific.
Harvey himself was a one-off, and much missed
2 bolt
3 bolt

I put the Harvey and gr spec side by side and the difference is night and day. The gt spec just has a smaller piece of pipe slit, slid inside and tacked in place.
Harvey's design is a more traditional taper
Paben, my post earlier today was based on the fact that when I was in alyns shop I saw 15-20 trick up pipes layed out ready for dispatch and they were all visibly different in diameter, alyn explained to me how they work and why they are preferred over others, turbo specific was the way I took it but that might be just me, I didn't mean to sound contradictive or question your knowledge

Hey don'y worry gazney101, my knowledge is always very questionable! I've now got a 2 bolt Harvey up pipe going spare and I didn't want to sell it until I was certain which turbos it would fit. Sounds like the turbo-specific options could be available from Alyn though.

If I may ask a question. Harvey supplied me his 2 bolt up-pipe for a TD05 20g (which he also supplied). Would this up-pipe only be suitable for this turbo now that I'm selling it or is there a spread of turbos that it would fit?
If I can add another question: my Harvey ported manifold eventually split and I've now got a 3 bolt GT spec gen 2 with matching one-piece up-pipe, SC46 turbo. Is there a specific Harvey up-pipe for this combo that would improve power/spool? I'm in the market if this would make a difference, also keen that the two piece slip jointed up-pipe would relieve stress on the manifold.
Sorry for the questions!
For what they cost new it's not really worth ****ing about with used ones.
Trick up pipes are NOT all the same, so if your gonna buy one second hand make sure it's the correct one for your spec, if you buy one that's matched to a 321t for example and fit it with a td04 then it's pointless.

I called they says there's 2 bolt & 3 bolt,
Wouldn't say the have a 350/400/450 ones
Or turbo specific,
It is after all just a tapered pipe

I have one on my car so not hating just as far as i was aware there was only 2 types.

This still going on? When the late Harvey sold me his ported manifold and up pipe (2 bolt of course) it was for the VF35. When I bought a TD05 20g off him there was no mention of an alternative up pipe, likewise when I fitted an MD321T. Things must have changed.

You clearly don't deal with Alyn if you think he uses bull**** sales pitches
And like i said. No mention of what turbo it was for.
Just asked if it was 2 or 3 bolt.
So perhaps u saw them upside down beside one another.

The 3 bolt up pipe has a distinct venturi effect whereas the 2 bolt much less so (if at all) so those two are quite different. I can't see what could be done to the 2 bolt version from turbo to turbo though.
rarely get on here as we are too busy making up "sales pitch" essay's or maybe in reality we sell a proven product that fits and works with an awful lot of development behind it and struggle to keep up with our workload

as for being asked wether 2 or 3 bolt you were most likely asked what age/model of car and if it had the std turbo and wether std 2bolt or aftermarket headers (2 or 3 bolt)??
we do NOT sell the same pipe for a td04 / VF34 / TD05 20G but there is some crosss over and if your upgrading later we will often supply a pipe more suited to the upgrades than this point in time
ANY questions then please direct them at the office as 12hr+ days does not leave much time to answer the same question on here every day, sorry
