Standard cat not fitting jap speed system.

Standard cat not fitting jap speed system.
Ive just bought a seccond hand cat for MOT, it fits fine although is too short to bolt up to the japspeed system, will it be the cat that is wrong or will i need a standard system too, (the cat is from a gc8 sti, mine is a gc8 uk2000 turbo)
