Default 06 STi vs 07 STi - difference of handling

Last night I drove my mates 07 STi around a private car park and even at slow speeds the car just feels more pointed and positive, with less effort required to turn and go somewhere?
As far as I know his car handling wise is standard, and mine is standard apart from Prodrive PFF7 wheels. My previous 06 had the standard BBS wheels and I don't remember it feeling that effortless and clean. I compared both mine and my mates with the DCCD set to open.

His has 20k on the clock and mine has 50K, so bushings might be a given? Any recommendations to upgrade and change to make the car feel tighter and more pointed? Cheers

It would be down to the difference in milage, geometry and different tyres (or pressure). You could start with good check of all suspension components (drop links are prone to failure).

With upgrades i would start in this order:

Geometry
Tyres
Rear 24mm ARB
ALK
Quick rack
Coilovers

Thanks for a great reply, will put them on my shopping list

I currently have a relatively fresh set of Goodyear Eagles F1 on it and they seem to handle better than the Toyo T1R's that were on there before. Would love some winter wheels though!

Geometry will totally change the car, I'd start there!

They have much stiffer sidewalls (these are basically semi slicks) in comparison to normal "performance" tyres like Eagle f1s ir t1rs.Less wall bend equals faster reaction (or understeer if slippery and to agressive on turn in:P).......not to mention 070s softer rubber compound.

Ahh I didn't know! They'll be what I replace the goodyears with then. Am I right that the PFF7's should be at 34/32 psi on front/rear? Any benefit of cranking it up a little?

Air pressure isnt spec'd by alloy wheels.
Values you mention seem ok.
