Impreza/Forester 2.5 engine question
Hi guys,
I've done a fair bit of research but just wanted to double check with someone who knows far more than I do!
I have a 2007 Forester 2.5 turbo XTEN that needs a new engine and possibly gearbox.
I think I'm right in saying that the Impreza WRX 2.5 has the same engine and gearbox. I'm looking at purchasing one from a 56 plate Impreza and think it should fit nicely but thought I'd better just ask the question to confirm before I go ahead.
Thank you in advance,
Mark.

So long as it has an EGR and DOHC you'll be fine, the gearbox has another ECU so auto or manual makes no difference
The gearbox itself is an issue as the Forester uses a 4.44 final drive and the Impreza 3.7, so unless you replace the rear diff you'll need a Forester gearbox.

It's possible that the WRX 5MT gearbox may have different ratios

Thank you for the replies guys
It's the engine I was mainly concerned about. I think I can reuse my gearbox
OK, so now another question.... My Forester is fitted with a BRC LPG kit, (Probably the resaon why the compression is so low on No 1 cylinder).... I think I would like to continue with the LPG on the new engine - Would it be relatively straight forward to remove the 'LPG bits' from my current engine and fit them to the new engine?
Thanks again,
Mark.
