Exclamation (PARTIALLY) STICKING CLUTCH PEDAL...???

From day one, I've had a sticking clutch pedal. When I first acquired the car (STi 5 4-dr saloon), it was really bad. It would gradually get lower and lower, until I'd have to hook it back up with my toes so as to 'reset' it.

I had API try to fix it some time ago - I think they adjusted something relating to the linkage in the engine bay(?). Since then it's been much, much better but it still suffers it now and again - albeit nowhere near as bad as it was.

(Other than that, the actual clutch engagement, etc. works fine).

Any ideas?

Try changing the master clynder I had perished rubber and this would cause the peddle to stick every now and then. Have you checked the reservoir you may find some black bit in the bottom of it not saying this is the problem but I've had it before.

Can't do any harm can it. And might sort it.

I'm guessing a brand new master cylinder from Subaru is gonna be mega bucks!? Do you reckon Import Car Parts will have one?

(Will also check state of fluid).

Knowing my luck, I'll end up with the only second hand one that WON'T fix the problem.

My bad. Here it is:

Price not too bad, actually. I'm guessing a Subaru dealer will charge nigh on double that!

Checked the MY dates, John?

Has the clutch been bled, it is a hydraulic system after all.

That ad mentioned the EJ207 engine; which mine is (MY99 STi 5), so should be okay.

Yeah, fair point on bleeding.

Thing is - due to its very nature - my instinct leads me to believe it is a mechanical (linkage) issue(?)
