Default Be honest, will it fail?

How likely is it that this rust will **** the MOT tester off?

Cheers. (UK)

i would say so. unbolt it and leave it out for the scrape man in your area.

its not needed so remove it car runs/drives fine without it.
if its not there it cannot fail for it

Its to my understanding that the front subframe would play a huge part (structurally) if i was to (hopefully not) crash and thus would need to be present to pass an MOT. but then again, I'm not exactly what you would call "up to date" with what would fail an MOT due to rust, cheers

Mine was failed for it being rusted through on the passenger side. Tried cutting off the ends that were worst affected and qas failed again. I said I would remove it then and they said it must be fitted. Bought a replacement locally for 45 quid.

I know it isn't a big deal just buying a new one, but I'm stingy, if it isn shiny i don't want to buy it haha. but thats cool,i suppose it is "better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it". cheers for all your input! much appreciated.

I did think maybe just smother it in grease, i know it won't fool anyone but i know for sure MOT testers won't spend time wiping the underside of my car down haha, so until "payday" i think i may just have to wing it.

Looking at it it's only surface rust and not structural so it will be ok. Be as well sorting it for your own sake though.

look under the black plastic caps, if there are holes it will fail.

if you can push a screw driver through any of the rust it will fail. if there are no holes and you cant stick a screw driver through it, then put it in for the mot.

mine had holes in, i took it off like many do. the car FAILED as it was missing!

so i had it welded up and refitted, passed the mot the next day.

it was an ex subaru mechanic that mot's it and spotted it wasnt there, so if you get someone that doesnt know subaru's then you may get lucky

What EXACTLY did the tester put on the fail sheet as the reason for refusing to issue the mot?

I dont have the fail sheet any more as i have since sold the car.

it was something like modifying the crash structure from the manufacturers specification.

when i explained the spec c doesnt even have one, he said "your car is not a spec c"

which was true lol

Mine's been off for 5 years, not through rust just to save weight. Sails through the MOT every time no bribes necessary. The car handles just fine without it.

Me?
Quite possibly lol. Kind of regret selling it actually!
But needed some cash to finish the house as ive just about finished an extension and ran out of funds.
Its replacement is an audi a3 diesel. Its a quattro, boring as hell but does 500 miles on a tank of fuel and gets me to work and back...

But im also thinking if selling that now as i need some cash to do the driveway and garden pmsl.

It never fooking ends!

U get a Subaru again . When u have had one there is no other car like it out there.
I had a golf mk4 R32 . She was running 240bhp I wanted to suppercharge it or put a turbo to it. Now that would of been fun. One if my mates got a mk5 R32 .
And just to **** me off he put twin turbo s to it . Running at 500bhp then he played some more snd got, 640bhp. I no he did it to **** me of but he is rich and I mean rich. His track car is a BMW m3 . And yes he got that suppercharged as well. & that's his just for fun car on the track . ****** lol .
I loved my golf but it under steered. Wear my Subaru I love it more then my golf.

I am running about 260/280bhp . But I plane to put nitrous to it.
Not looking for top speed 155mph pluss. Just want to get rid of trubo lag. Flick the switch and at 1/2revs it shod blow most cars away lol. What do u thank of nitrus . Or are u one of them the like to give out banter when the word nitrus comes up lol.
