Default V3 type ra speed limiter

Hi,I have a version 3 wrx type ra. It's is a 1996 so I'm guessing it has a speedo cable. It currently still has the 112mph limiter which is more than fine for road use, thing is I'm thinking of taking it on a track day and am not fussed for getting a speedo converter as I have a digital gps speedo(road angel).
My question is if I just unplug the speedo cable would this remove the speed limit?

Any help on this please?
I guess I could just unplug it and go for a play tomorrow, after all it only take about 10 seconds to reach the limiter
God you gotta love these ra's.

No it would not and the car will go into limp mode, meaning it will cut out at around 4.5k rpm. Been there done that many years ago, this is what you need

Ok cheers mate.
. I might just choose a track with plenty of corners and no high speed straights.
Any suggesions on a decent track?
