Default Car sometimes wont start

Hello Gents,

Just bought a Subaru Impreza Classic Version 4 STi couple of weeks ago. It appears that it has a starting issue as it sometimes it will not start even though the battery and alternator have both been checked and show they are both fine. All my lights and gauges come on but all I get is a single click. Any ideas what may be going wrong. The guy that sold it to me said something about the central locking system being faulty, not sure how true that is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for you time.

John

I don't recall hearing the fuel pump being primed. I'm away offshore at the minute so I can't fix it until I'm back. I just remember all my lights come and and gauges and when I turn the key it was just a single click.

The cars knocking on a bit now so the starter motor so that could be a problem . If the battery and alternator are in good nick , then the starter should be the next check. Make sure all the wiring tight and in good shape, especially earth leads in that area. Remove and clean if doubtful.

Battery was tested and showed 100% same with the alternator that's all ok as well. Maybe a loose wire or starter motor
