Default 17's vs 18's

I've only had 18's on the car since buying in November, and find that they're a bit all over the place on country roads which doesn't inspire much confidence.

Currently driving on 18x8.5 245/40/18 Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's with KYB shocks and H&R springs, with CDF ALK. I've just fitted an OMP bucket seat which I hope will help - really not a fan of the newage STI seats.

I'm thinking that 17's with maybe 50 profile tyres may be much better suited to the character of the car - absorbing more of the minor shocks and allowing me to concentrate on making progress rather than getting chucked around

Any thoughts?

EDIT: Sorry just realised there's a wheels/tyres section and I don't know how to move this?!

I run both 17" & 18"
17 for usually November - March
Also my 18 " run on ultrac sessanta's & I must say even tho they hold the road well , I find them to be a very emotionless tyre with very little satisfaction .
I will be replacing with something else
So yea , maybe it's the tyres for you 2
Or maybe not

CMR wtf are you on?! haha

Yes think I may look out for a set of 17's and get some fat tyres, there's a set of cheap 17x10's on Ebay which are tempting me to buy some bolt-on arch flares..

The H&R springs are only 35mm drop IIRC.

Scooby came fitted with HKS Hipermax III coilies when I bought it but I hated them so sold them on. I'd say coilies should definitely be reserved for track cars
