Default Cooling fans

Newbie question
On my car I've two cooling fans I believe one is for air con and the other engine cooling.
I've removed the air con from the car so can I now remove the fan or does the engine still need it ?
If so is the air con one the drivers side ?

Thanks

It's a x reg 1999 uk 2000, think that makes it a V6
When carrying out the test green connectors only one fan operates the left passenger one
