Default Which dump valve ??

Hi guys I'm picking up a 99 (T) RB5 on Sunday.
It's totally standard.
I want to put on a dump valve.
Firstly which one should I get &
Secondly does the dump valve fit on the inter cooler on the RB5.??
Thanks

"Search" you'll get a lot of dump valve haters here! Do a search at the top of the page!

Each to their own

Oh no - here we go again!
WARNING TO THE OP - This is a subject that on here, triggers ridicule, sarcasm and general **** taking.
If the original dump valve (fitted to the intercooler) is undamaged, leave it alone- it works fine. The noise made by a vent to atmosphere dump valve is no longer considered 'cool'

Sorry for the thread hijack fella but has anyone fitted a dump valve to a Hybrid HDI GT Spec 2 FMI?

If so whats best and what have you's got??

P.S not worried about being uncool

Currently have it blanked off for it to flutter but I get the feeling its not good for the turbo.

GFB do a DV called Respons that vents or recircs or both at the twist of the cap, might be the best option for sound control v smooth running.

fit what ever dump valve you want it's your car.

sometimes I see stuff on here that makes me cringe but if I have nothing nice to say and all that b**locks.

different versions/MY have different fitments so make sure it's for your model year.

We all wanted a dump valve at some point in our lives, you know, in the 90's being teenagers, but many of us realised the error of our ways and we now try to educate.

There are some cheap dodgy ones that people do keep away from but on the other hand loads of people out here still using dump valves they all can't be bad

You are missing the point.

Its not whether the dump valve is badly manufactured or not, a standard Impreza has a MAF meter, You can do your own research why an atmospheric valve is completely detrimental to the performance of a car with a MAF , but this is the reason.

You are obviously fairly inexperienced, so maybe an idea to listen to others who have experience. I had a dump valve once, thought it was great, put the recirc valve back on and thought "god the car runs so much better, why didn't I do this sooner?". Your spool will be better with a re-circ, and also your fueling. Its the way it is.

Maybe a Fiat Uno Turbo might be more suited to you?

If you want a dump valve, you buy a dump valve. At the end of the day its your car to do with as you please But apparently Baileys are very bad for Impreza's!
Where ever your DV is now then you need to buy one that replaces it. So if its on your intercooler then you will need to buy to fit that

I know what you are saying mate iv had a few Subaru's & a few Evo's never really had any dump valve issues
I buy & sell cars too so iv had loads of Turbo cars standard & suped up versions.
The RB5 is completely standard so I thought I'd get some little mods on it

Best bet is to leave well alone...!!!
That car is standard and more valuable like it is.. start tinkering and watch it drop
I've so had plenty of turbo cars all had d.vs but I learnt a "subaru" don't like it
Car runs so much better with recirc on...

You can get an adaptor to suit the original dump valve to use on a FMIC and maybe use an extension hose to feed back to the re-circ. You can of course use an after-market re-circ. valve. I use a Forge re-circ valve and (unfortunately) it is a bit vocal as I use a large cone filter and the sound of the 'dump' is not muffled too well by it! It's all part of the level of tune I have, unfortunately.

Well said I been thinking about leaving it but it's just a bit of fun really I'm only adding little modds like dumpy exhaust & a air filter which I will be able to remove & put it back to standard any time :-)

I also use a large K&N cone filter but cheers for the info, where did you get your re-circ valve from?
