Default Modding advise for a rookie please

Hi, Ive just brought a standard 04 WRX today and theres a few things Id like your opinions on. I owned a 2000 classic UK turbo a few years ago but this is my first blobeye.
Firstly, its got the standard exhaust which sounds rubbish. Ive seen a Japspeed backbox and decat center section online for about £230. Are these any good?
Secondly, The BOV that is on it is an after market thing. Its massive and pretty quiet. It looks and sounds naff to be honest. Is a Baileys BOV still the best option to put on.
And my last question is about the stereo. It doesn't work and looks pretty crappy as well. So I'll be replacing that soon too. Does a double din stereo fit in there alright.
Thanks for any help you can throw my way.
Luke.

Hello mate,

Japspeed with straight through centre section -

Regarding BOV I would just stick to standard re-circ valve. I believe if you are replacing the subaru double din with an after market you will need an adapter, around 50 sheets new at halfrauds.
Hope that helps a little :-)

Welcome bud to the fold

The Japspeed exhausts are good quality and I have a full decat exhaust from them which sounds great!

The BOV, as many others surely will advise, should be removed and either replace with a standard one or a forge recirculating valve. As the atmospheric ones cause running issues and leads to the car running lean and hence using more fuel, if not mapped.

A double din stereo should fit fine AFAIK and would be a wise replacement over the standard quality.

After you have fitted these parts make sure to get it remapped just so that it is running right and well which will save you a bit more time and money in the future.

If you are unaware you can get your car to a healthy 280hp/290hp with just an uprated fuel pump, exhaust, panel filter and remap, which is plenty for 'spirited' drives on UK roads.

Hope this helps

Regards,

Subaru Collector 555.

Yup double din stereo goes straight in easy ,, just need the adaptor leads from halfords to save hacking wires etc to convert the scooby wires to iso

Thanks for the advice guys. That exhaust sounds much better on the video.
I'll get hold of an original Subaru dump valve too and sling the one thats on it now.
280/290bhp sounds very good :-)
Would you go for a better panel fitter over an induction kit then. I remember fitting a K&N induction cone on my classic and it seemed to make the engine a bit rougher.

At that level of power a good panel filter will be more than up to the job

Yh panel filters are good up to 400bhp and are a very cheap mod which helps in getting the few extra horses on the rolling road.

When you say an uprated fuel pump do you mean replacing the in-tank pump.
Cheers.
