Default 2003 blob hard to start

Hi there, just recently bought my first blob eye and having a slight issue with starting . I've had over 10 scoobys over last 15 years and I can say pretty much everyone started on the key . But this one takes a good 3/5 secs to start then a puff of smoke a stink of petrol then all good. When I look in the engine I'm sure there is an adjustable fuel pressure reg with hoses going all over the place and a guage , never had dealings with these before so am wondering if this is my culprit and should replace with standard item ? Cheers in advance

Depending on products, etc. I wouldn't just switch them to standard as they are probably an improvement but you may need to adjust the regulator. When you start it, what is the pressure showing on ideal? It should be 3 bar I believe

before you mess with the FPR. Prime the fuel pump before starting and see if that makes a difference.

Depends as well wether its been mapped at the current fuel pressure. Dropping it could make it run lean
