piston ring end gap help

Default piston ring end gap help

Hi all I have a set of mahle 9.25 3.642 forged pistons,I am not sure how to work the correct ring end gap,the box manual said top ring x00.45_2nd ring x00.35_Oil ring .015
How do I work the correct gap out

push the ring that you are checking into the bore, make sure it's square in the bore, the same position it would be when its on the piston,
then measure the gap with feeler gauges. If the gap is too small you will have to carefully file the end of the ring until the gap is correct.

If you are fitting new rings into used bores make sure you don't check the ring gap in the most worn part of the bore
