Default Kayaking this evening.

Such a pleasant day decided to go for a paddle this evening along the river ouse. Just waiting for er indoors who`s outdoors shopping to get home then we are off.
Have`nt been this year yet so looking forward to it.
Anybody else into Kayaking or canoeing in the club? Or anybody ever tried it or know of anywhere in Essex suitable to launch?

Oh well er indoors is still logged on so I`ve posted under er.

It`s a very pleasant pastime when the weathers nice, quietly paddling along a river. And as pastimes go a relatively cheap way to keep fit. Well get some excercise anyway.

Since Griff Rhys Jones's Rivers program and article in Countryfile magazine, there has been an escalating 'war' between canoeists and fishermen. Something to do with rights of access and also considerate use.

So remember, paddle slowly and quietly near the opposite bank when passing fishermen, smile, and wish them good morning/afternoon/evening or even tight lines. And in return they may even grunt appreciatively at you! Though most will just glare at you, miserable *******

Hi Neil we are well aware of the love/hate relationship between fisherman and canoeists I did tell you i like rocking boats something you don`t take too well to I understand if you know what I mean. And we abide by the canoeists code of conduct being British canoe union members. Have`nt actually come across a fisherman when canoeing yet. But I believe a fisherman should equally pull his line in a bit if passing is difficult. But either way I carry a knife for emergency use when kayaking so any grief and I `d cut his line.

Oooooppps - was a bit later in from shopping than anticipated, so by the time we'd checked spray decks, bouyancy aids, etc & readjusted Coz's seat / foot rests (she must have grown 2 feet since last summer...) we decided it was getting too late!

Still, thans for all the different locations - hopefully the hot weather we've been promised will continue through to September...

Oh, and as for the fishermen, I try my hardest to grap a line & attach thier hook to my kayak. By the time the dozzy fisherman has woken up in his deckchair I am several miles downstream. Them reeling me in saves all that effort of paddling back to our launch site!!!
