Default Just been robbed.........

......by Autoglass

Just had my classic windscreen replaced by Autoglass, they charged £396.64 +vat for the windscreen whereas a genuine Subaru windscreen is £226.10 +vat

They want over £700 for the Newage windscreen compared to £208+vat from Subaru.

Couldn't you get it done on the insurance and just pay the £50 -£70 excess?

AG are not good with cash buyers (as you've seen) they are more interested in working with the Ins Co's...Can't understand why as if they had more competetive pricing they secure much more work. Quite often been a shock with how much I have to collect from customers who insist on AG where it can be had elsewhere much cheaper.

It ain't cause they pay us too much either

Daylight robbery!
Just had the chip done on my galaxy and that costs over £80. And you can still see it! At least it goes through the insurance.

I had a windscreen fitted in my Rover SD1 only a couple of weeks ago, bearing in mind they are not the most common of cars now, and I only paid £140

I surprised so many people seem to pay for a windscreen.

I thought it was standard cover on insurance now......and it doesn't affect your no-claims or anything like that.

It was through my insurance however both my screens need replacing, classic and newage but the cover only extends to £1k/year so with Autoglass charging £480 for the classic and £820 for the Newage I'd have to pay the extra £300 + £150 in excess.

If I'd have sourced the screens from Subaru it would cost me £500 retail and somewhat less trade.
