R/C hack :-)
Lmao....
the Rush evo that i found in the skip had a piston liner gone," no compression" and was quoted £40 quid for another one.
I was given some advice, and i want to share it with you
Remove Piston Liner from engine, Then switch on the oven to full heat.
Get yourself a jubilee clip, fasten it to the Piston Liner, make sure its as tight as you can get it up to the top of the Piston Liner where there is a ridge.
Place Piston Liner with Clip fastened on to backing tray...Do Not add oil
leave to cook for 45mins turning ocassionaly.
take out of oven 45 mins later, then make sure you have an oven glove and tighten the jubilee clip as much as you can.
Place on a cold tray or doorstep and let it cool down naturally.
After about 30 mins check that it is stone cold. Add one Piston Liner to engine, Making sure you line up the slit on the liner with the marker on the engine.....Push down firmly.
You have now saved yourself loads of dosh
You have to run the engine in as if it was brand new
have fun.......
Mine is now working 100% and run in
can be done on any Piston Liner......any engine. As there only copper

From: Going further than the station and back !!! ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz
although no one mentioned the annealing effects of this brass, from heating and cooling slowly, which actually softens it and increases the scoring factor!!!
a good work around, nonetheless 10/10!!!
edited to say, if my HNC serves me right, the correct process would be to quench it in acid as opposed to air cooling!!!

Also isnt the engine of ABC design?
A=Aluminium piston
B=Brass sleeve
C=Chromium plated liner
?????
Therefore this would also distort the chromium liner of which will expand and contract at a different rate to that of the brass its attatched to?
If you had a Traxxas mate, they offer a lifetime engine replacemnet plan anyway.
You and Corni could spend more time enjoying your models as opposed to rebuilding the engine every 150 yards

No one said this was a permanent solution, just one answer to a problem. No- it's not going to last, but if it means keeping a car going until a new liner or engine is sourced, what difference does it make?
I don't call that pikey.
