Default I want a kite....

Popped round to see a fellow ESC'er yesterday, and he suggested taking his kite out.
I had visions of a little plastic eagle with 2 fishing lines and a tail, and low and behold i was disappointed.

this thing was like a flipping parachute with big aluminium handles!!!!

all i can say is...

"I want one!!!!"

great exercise and i've never laughed so much....

apparently its supposed to go with a board of some sort, but it's hard enough to keep it airbourne without it pulling you at 30mph along the ground!!!!

I got myself a small Power kit a few years back, like you said, loads of fun...

Keep meaning to get a board and give it a try, apparently, it hurts when you fall off...

A mate of mine has one, as does his missus, they're a great laugh, and also IMO a great excuse for carrying a bit of extra weight

I bought a big traditional style kite meself, mainly because I purposely wanted a kite and not a parachute, and it's just as much fun

Yeah, but you also have to march for miles with a heavy pack, and put up with someone shouting at you all the time...

a bit like the missus

already have a stunt kite. not as fancy as the parachute / ram head ones. just a delta rip stop for me.

can be a lot cheaper than the rc cars. can also spend silly money too.

ok, done deal....

bets for:

a) getting electrocuted by overhead cables
b) getting struck by lightning
c) breaking my ankle on a foxhole
d) getting pi55ed of with the tangles and leaving it in a field somewhere
e) falling out of a tree trying to retreive it.
f) being lifted into outer space.......

lets face it, all of the above "can" happen...

Mate had mine for a good few years and had none of the above, as long as you get a reasonable make, I can show you a good way of winding the lines so you don't have agro with tangles every time you go out with it.

P.S. make sure you get a 4 line kite, so you get break lines aswell, a good safety feature, and makes setting up and packing up much easier.

Did you never see the adverts that used to be on the TV in the 70's / 80's...?

Next you'll be getting in to playing Frisbee near electrical sub-stations!!!!
