Hi,

In need of more advice re cleaning products please. Can't aford to make the car any faster at the moment so i might as well make it look cleaner

I want to clean up my wheel arches, suspension struts etc. basically what you can see through the wheels. I want to give the engine bay a good clean too. Oh, and where i removed the splash guards some sticky fixing residue has been left, any ideas?

cheers

Matt.

Answer to all of the above mate is Poorboys all purpose cleaner..

Can be diluted or used neat and will clean and degrease, great on the arches and engine bay. Can also be used on interiors and fabrics too, even around the house.

Its quite strong but works really well. Give the arches and good clean with a pressure washer, spray with APC and give them a good scrub, use a stiff brush too.

If youre really struggling with a particular grimey area then id recomend Tetrosyl, engine degreaser. This comes in a tin and is not to be used on tarmac as it will destroy it.. but does work very wll on the engine bay area and the chassis area.

Once youre happy with your cleaning, rinse and dry. Then dress with either..

Autoglym Vinyl & rubber care
Poorboys Trim restorer
Poorboys Bold & Bright.

Arches id recomend Trim restorer and for the engine id use the Autoglym.

Clean the engine, spray on your dressing librally, plastics, hoses, vinyl etc... it will look cak at first but shut the bonnet and go for a 15 min drive.. then open up and enjoy. :

Anythin else i can help you with ?

Cheers Frayz. Can you sort the poorboys apc out for me please. Let me know how much and will get the money to you if that's ok? Engine bay's not too bad just not "nice and clean" so will try the apc first. I've still got some autoglym and the poorboys trim restorer so that bits ok.

I'm using meguires gold glass wax / polish at the moment. good enough? happier with that than the autoglym i'd been using as that left a chalky residue.

mk3 is ok as well. got an 1800 zetec waiting to be rebuilt and put in the right fiesta. it's the focus 130 engine. would have a nice power to weight ratio in a mk1
