How about something similar to Sir Fozzalot's route last time? This time we HAVE to do the underground rounabout at Westferry Circus. I must admit I'm not totally familiar with the area though so open to ideas.
The hardcore of the group will then be continuing on to Southend!
Remember the toll charge is £1 each way so make sure you have some £1 coins to keep the flow fast through the tolls.
Caution....There are loads Speed cameras on this route with limits including 20mph, 30mph, 40mph & 50mph! Keep your eyes peeled!!! (and the Origin/Road Angels updated ) You have been warned!

- Leave services @ 9.30 p.m. and join M25 towards Dartford Crossing.
- Through tolls and continue M25 to junction *1b* Princes Road Interchange.
- Leave via slip road, circumnavigate roundabout and re-join M25(A282) back towards crossing.
- Through tolls again and through Dartford tunnel.
- Exit M25(A282) at junction *30* (2nd exit after tunnel) and join A13 – London bound.
- Continue A13 – The leaders will need to keep the pace down a bit here to allow everyone to catch-up due to traffic lights at M25/A13 junction.
- Watch out for new speed cameras on A13 around Beckton/A406 junction.
- Stay in right-hand lane on A13 at Canning town flyover.
- Enter tunnel towards Isle-of-Dogs. No cameras AT PRESENT in this short tunnel. Subject to change!
- Continue along Aspen Way, over flyover and into Limehouse link (Watch out for 30mph cameras x 3 in tunnel, rumoured to be Specs type units too!!!!).
- Stay in right-hand lane towards end of tunnel.
- Turn right at traffic lights.
- Continue under bridge and turn right at next lights.
- Stay in right-hand lane to next lights, turn right and continue through Rotherhithe tunnel. (Watch out for 20mph camera at entrance to tunnel - I think this one has gone now, but watch out anyway!).
- Circumnavigate roundabout at the end of tunnel and straight back through Rotherhithe tunnel. (Watch out for 20mph camera at entrance to tunnel again).
- On exit of Rotherhithe tunnel, take first left (before lights).
- Follow to end (under bridge), turn left and left again at lights and back through Limehouse link. (Watch out for 30mph cameras x 3 in tunnel again).
Due to the traffic lights around this area, the group might get split up a bit, so it may be an idea to re-group somewhere convenient before continuing so look out for the leaders stopping or slowing down.
- Continue back along Aspen Way (with Canary Wharf on the right) and exit to the left before the flyover. Turn right (4th exit) off the roundabout under the flyover and into McDonalds for a pit stop and regroup.
At this point in the run a recon will take place of the situation with the Blackwall tunnel. If it is open Southbound then the route will continue as detailed below. If it is closed then an alternative will be discussed on the night. - On exiting McDonalds, take the 3rd exit on main roundabout and stay in left hand lane to another roundabout with an Esso garage (NOT through tunnel!!!), take 2nd exit on roundabout towards A13.
- Turn left at lights and re-join A13 London bound, stay in left-hand lane and filter off to the left and through Blackwall tunnel.
- Continue A2, onto M25 and the 2nd blast through Dartford Tunnel.
- Exit at junction 31 (first exit after tunnel) and re-group in Thurrock Services.
The hardcore of the group will then be continuing on to Southend!

I would recommend that everyone going on this be prepared to get split up from the rest of the group at some point and so be prepared to find your own way back on route!
The area around the Limehouse link and rotherhithe tunnel is full of traffic lights and generally quite heavy traffic (even at this time of night) if the Blackwall tunnel is closed.
If it is as popular as last time the group will get split up by the traffic lights! A few people ended up getting a little lost last time.

There is a scheduled bridge closure on this date which will mean that the East tunnel will be carrying southbound traffic from 20.30hrs until 09.00hrs on Sunday, 30th. The West Tunnel (15' 9") will be available for northbound traffic.
I trust that this information is of use.
