Default short ram intake with no remap?

hi guys, just bought my 2nd sti and loving it,just purchased quite alot of perrin goodies one of which is a perrin short ram intake.i asked scoobyclinic if it was ok to fit and use without remap and they said yes of course, but after reading on here and other subaru forums it appears not the case.
so can anyone tell me if its ok to use or not before i return it,the car also has a 3" cat back but the stock down pipe with cats.

cheers guys.

Don't believe all you read , it'll be fine , the only reason to have it mapped for the intake is to increase performance , that said you'll gain very little if at all any with just the intake alone ( mapped or not ) and you would require a long list of mods before you needed it or to gain the benefit from it
