Default max power stroker kit ej207 block

Hi,

I'm running EJ207, and wondering if the block will last longer with 2.1L, 2.2L instead of 2.0 when i'm running around 550hp? How much power can the block handle with 2.0 compared to 2.1/2.2 on E85? Is it the boost who's killing it or is it hp? Thank you!

Correct. I would think that 550 should be acceptable on a forged ej207, imo boost is what kills them, poor fuel and timing also. The 2.1 will provide better spool for the bigger turbo your gonna be needing

Thank you for for answers... But can anywone answer the question if the block will last longer with 2.1 instead of 2.0 on 550bhp? Because of the lower boost..

Hi there

People usually going with 2.1L due better spool up when they going with bigger turbo, such as GT3076R or GT3582R

If you are thinking go above 600bhp,then better starting point can be CDB and 11mm Cosworth 260k psi headstuds or even better 14mm headstuds

Boost won't be any different usually at that BHP level - as in you'd be running 1.8/2.0 bar ish on both set ups to get that level. It's not like you'd be running 1.5 bar on a 2.1 to get the same as 2.0 bar on a 2.0 litre.

The torque is higher though ( and spool is better). 550 is too high on a semi closed deck block IMHO- it would be fine for a while but it will go eventually, and you would need 14mm studs for that sort of level, but more importantly you would need a fully forged internal set up/ better clutch etc etc etc. Not cheap from personal experience.

If you are going to build/ spend to that sort of level then don't start from a semi closed deck - spend a few hundred quid more and get a CBD or have one of Alyn at AS Performance's closed deck inserts.

By the way 2.1 or 2.2 are the same thing is you are stroking a 2.0 - it ends up somewhere around 2.18 ish pretty much anyway you go.

Thanks for your replies fellas! Ok some says it possible to run 550bhp some says it's not... What is the truth? Is 550 the limit or is it lower? Of course i want it to last too..

Well theres a guy on her running around 530bhp with an s206 turbo at iirc 2.7bar of boost on a forged open deck block so with that in mind i would say your scdb if forged will be fine, theoretically

That was proven to be incorrect, it was in the region of 2.1 bar apparently he got his wires crossed

I ran 2 bar on a standard newage engine and sti 3 heads with a rotated GT30R and made 522.5bhp. So anything is possible

Little laggy but brutal from 4.5k to redline of 8k, was perfectly matched with the JDM 6 speed ratios. Yours should be better with you having a billet wheel and avcs to help with spool, I had the boost mapped in progressively so didnt hit 2 bar until peak power to help with the standard internals.

You should be able to go flat with boost curve being a forged engine
