Default ECU Help - 8S / 6S Impreza

Hi,

Im after a little help not sure if you know the info. My car has a 8S ECU Standard. I have bought a 6S ecu with ESL Is there any pin outs I need to do to get this to run on the car or does it need any coding to the car?
Any help would be good thank you.

Ive uprated the injectors / turbo / intercooler etc

Is this even possible to get this connected up and running. Ive tried the pin outs for the V3 / V4 STi from one of the pages but I can't get this to fire, it just turns over.

Im new to this and would appreciate some help for you guys who have more knowledge!

Thanks

Doesn't need coding but you will need to swap cam crank and fuel pump sensors then add the extra sensors and Sti has over a UK car. Alternatively get a new warrantied ESL board added to your 8S for 295+VAT.

I'm interested in your 6s if you decide to sell.

Thumbs up

Hi mate,
What sensors would I need to add to get the ECU to run? Any ideas where they would need wiring to?

Ive opened my 8S ECU and noticed that the socket is not actually there for the ESL board to be plugged in like it is inside the 6S.

Is there any other ECU I can put on which would not need the extra sensors but give improvements to the car and is mappable?

Thanks for your responses, appreciate the info.

Cheers

There is a fitting service for £25+VAT for your existing ECU. The ESL board in your 8S ECU the most cost effective live mappable option for your car.

The 8S doesn't have a socket like the other ECU's. It's got a line of solder pads which need to be cleaned out and a strip of connector pins soldered in. Sound like you have the pre 97 ESL board and what you need for the 8S is the 97-98 ESL board. Either that or you connect the additional sensors and re-pin the existing sensors to suit the 6S.

For the cost, get the 8S fitted with a new ESL board by Andy and then sell the 6S. That way you don't need to mess with wiring and adding additional sensors.

Any ECUs I've seen selling with the ESL already fitted make good money.

Default ECU Help - 8S / 6S Impreza

Thanks for the info, appreciated. Anyone know what sensors I would need to wire in that are not on the car?

If the board cant be used I will find out what needs wiring in, if its to big a job I may just sell the 6S with the ESL board (what sort of money will that fetch any Ideas?)

Nothing is simple when you want it to be is it!?

Thanks

The sti doesn't have any extra sensors compared to a uk car. It just has different way round cam and crank sensors and the fuel pump feed swapping over like someone already said. The sensor you will need is an air charge temperature sensor for running mafless. Then get it mapped for your car. There is no reason you can't get this ecu working as long as it's not dead already.

The Sti has an intake temp sensor and egt (hot cat) sensor over a UK car. There are other differences, the 8S and 6S motherboards are populated differently.
