Default ESL or Alcatek?

Hi All,

I've heard 2nd hand (via my mechanic) from Bob Rawle who recommends either of the above for my '96 STi RA. There is about £180 difference in price so unless there is a compelling reason otherwise, I think I'll go with the ESL board.

I'm not after massive power although a modest increase to say 310 - 320 would be good. The main reason for the map will be to get the car running safely on 99 RON fuel. I'm not interested in Launch control or Anti-Lag.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Regards

Mark

P.S. No, I am not spending £1,500+ on a SYVECS!

I have ESL, And this its fantastic. I think all ECU's will make more or less the same power. Its all down to how it is tuned. The ESL does everything I could ever want. And my old car is around 400hp now.
ESL is hard to beat...and for the price, Its a bonus

Thanks Dmac, is your car MAF less? I understand the MAF is only good to about 350hp.

Cheers

Hey,

Yep, Car is running mafless. The car was self tuned and very the ESL is very easy to use.

The Change to Mafless is rather painless. A little bit of change in the fuel map. And if you feel like it you can install at Intake temp sensor. Im told that you can run mafless without a IAt sensor.

The car seems to run alot smooth mafless, Also a big perk when you blow off a Intake hose the car still drives fine and can continue driving home!
