not sure if this is the right section to post, but im having a strange problem with my06 2.0 sti, it randomly starts hunting on idle between 1250 to 2000 rpm, and then once thats finished its idles at 1400 rpm,after a while it does carm down and idle normally, does anyone have a clue what this mite be, ive checked air mass sensor connection and breather hoese ??

 

Is just when cold? Just started? Aftermarket ecu?

Could be idle control valve

 

it doesn't do it when cold, only when warm,its got standard ecu but got a ecutek sticker on it,was told it was tinkered with to pass sva when new.

i can replicate this issue, when i try to fully open my ivac and tighten everything back. the car will idle fine, as soon as i give it some beans it will hunt from like 1500-2000 and then settle to 1200!

 

Any CELs?

Clean IACV and replace gasket.
