Perrin induction fitted car not happy
Hi all,
looking for for some advice
yesterday I had a Perrin short ram induction kit fitted however the car is now very sluggish low down the revs and slow to respond and the engine warning light is now on. Does the car require a remap? Would putting the original air box back in rectify this in the meantime ? I drive a 04 sti
thanks in advance

It'll need mapping in wouldn't advise driving till done as can cause unwanted damage, just put your old air box back on till you can arrange mapping or go for a panel filter with your old system back on just as good

Thanks for the help I will return it to the panel filter in the meantime as there are several more mods to the car still to be done 👌 Thanks again

Don't get me wrong, I agree that the Impreza needs a remap after an induction kit fitted (esp the new ages)
but I doubt it would make the car run different (just the risk of pre det) have you by any chance fitted the maf the wrong way round?

idle/cruise should still be within the correction range of the ECU (assuming it's not been mapped already) unless it's the perrin "big maf" tube in which case it will definitely need a map tweak. If it's just the standard sized ones normally you can drive/cruise on those and keep it off boost until the fuelling can be adjusted to suit in the map.

More than likely the reason for the sluggish behaviour.

Thanks everyone for all the help and advice
I think the car has been previously mapped
I will be getting the car remapped later this month by Andy Forrest to suit the new intake the car will be getting checked over next week to make sure everything's as it should be 👌
