I can never quite work out why when a car is making a noise like that people then insist on revving it.....

If mine made a similar sound it would be instantly off and disassembled in a garage.

Driving along hear a noise like that turn it off instantly. You know that's gonna be something big so an engine inspection is in order. If you can't tell that there is something seriously wrong from that sound and the engine shouldn't be run.....

Good luck on getting it sorted though!

no wonder with the crank knocking its nut off, next noise that engine will make is a rod flying out the block.

ok cheers guys. the car is only worth around 3/4k... so i'll inspect today, if it seems that this is the case..... i'll have to sell it. shame to the rest of the car is immaculate, only 80,000 on it too. Only had it 2 months! Just put a new clutch in too. bollocks!

I know there is always a risk but how about a second hand engine

i did think about this, still after fitting etc, still going to be a big price! to say ive only had it for 2 months, i think i might have to cut my losses before anything else happens! Big shame though, everything else is perfect!!! just dont have the time for all this anymore!! was hoping to get at least a years worth of driving out of her!!!

ive got some thinking to do!!
