Air filter and remapping....Help.
Hi, I'm thinking of fitting either a K+N panel filter or a cold air intake kit with a cone air filter on my 2002 bugeye wrx, the question is would I need to remap it after changing to either one of these, I would imagine I would need a remap more so on the cold air kit, any advise welcome.
super duper mega "cold air" induction kit is more likely to be an ebay 10.99 cone sucking in hot engine bay air and will mess with the ECU due to how they setup the MAF tube. Stick with the stock airbox and the K&N drop in. If you want a bit more sound then search for "snorkus delete". Map isn't needed but your base mods should also include a boost gauge, fuel pump and decat uppipe if you've not got them already.
Agreed, just go for an upgraded panel filter. I did some research on these and its a nightmere to find the best one. Your looking for good air flow without compromising on the filtration.
I'd recommend Subaru Pro R filter

As for cone filters and cold air feeds watch video's below.

yes this would also apply to a good quality induction kit as well, it's kinda how you know it's working. If the filter is drawing in more air then the MAF scale isn't the same anymore so anything beyond a basic panel filter you should get the car mapped to suit or at least have the fuel checked on a dyno.
