Default Okay, Really need some help, Please.

Fellow Scooby peeps I need your help

I bought a Bugeye WRX last night, the EML light is on and came up as a Lambda fault.

Well today after searching around the boost control solenoid I found two things that are questionable.

One, is the lambda plug was tucked in but not plugged in and I couldn't see where to plug it in, the Lambda is a 4 wire male connector.

Then, the second finding was the a resistor in a 2 pic female connector.

Can someone or all of you please help, I hate bodges like this and want the EML light on.

Some more info if it helps, the car is a 2002 WRX Bugeye. It's running more boost peaks at 17 and hold 14/15 and goes well. Im unsure what MAP the ECU has

It will bad a CEL fix for the down pipe. A very crap one at that. You can make them so they are watertight and tidy

Thanks Flash,

So is the Lambda the wrong one for the car and am I right in assuming the plug with the resistor in it should plug in to the lambda connector?

Why can't the Lambda be plugged in even if the car is mapped? And is there a better solution to that Gash resistor mod?

NO worries.

Yes that is right with the resistor in it the circuit is looped telling the ECU that there is no issue. These can be mapped correctly turning of the CEL light. You can also get a CEL fix made with the sensor working and the resistor in. This is what I have on mine so I still get readings from the Lambda

Dont have newage wrx but have forester of same age.

Firstly the 2 pin plug with resistor is for the egt sensor which is located in up pipe. Its either broken or more likely had aftermarket decat up pipe without a boss to screw sensor into fitted.

Two lambdas (Ones actually afr sensor) both should be plugged in. Om my foz the afr ones plug is beside egt one, unsure on wrx but most likely the same.

Edit. Just noticed yellow sheath thats normally for lamda 2 the cheap sensor connected at back of gearbox. The front afr sensor is fitted to exhaust manifold and is lot dearer, blue sheath oem. Possibility may be somebodies tried saving money by fitting wrong part?

So am I right in saying that the resistor should be in place but also the other connector should have been able to plug in to it if the resistor wasn't there? You are right, the wire that has 4 pins has a yellow sheath and wont plug in to it, shoul this be the egt gauge then?

No resistor is in place because another sensor has been disconnected, quite common.

There should be another plug loose somewhere that front lambda plugs into, it definatly needs connecting.

Any ideas where I can look to find the connector, IE where abouts on the car it'll be ?
