Default Help coolant header tank

Hi.need some advice regarding my coolant header tank. Ive got a 05 impreza sti model. Ive got a hairline crack on the neck of the tank before the cap. Had the same problem about 4 months ago.
The local garage took the top of the tank off and brazzed the crack.job done until this mornin. So i am thinking about buying an original off ebay and just swapping the lid of the header tank over.
Can anybody point me in the right direction to do this and what tools ill need? Dont like messing with the coolant system because of the dreaded airlock.
any help would be apreciated thanks

Buy one off one of the trusted breakers on here. As the header tank is at the top of the system you can just plug the connections as you remove them, spark plugs, batteries and bolts do the job nicely. unbolt the header tank, replace it , reconnect pipes and fill it with coolant, shouldnt have any problems mate. Ive replaced coolant over 15 times on imprezas and never once had an air lock lol.

get a metal one from pre 05 newage. the plastic ones are crap. straight swap there is no airlock potential as its the top of the water/coolant circuit as such
