Question for Mappers - Mapping Other Cars
I've tried searching but not sure actually what to search for.
Basically, my wife has a 2011 Hyundai i30 which runs OK but lacks power and with poor consumption - struggled to get out of the low 30s mpg last year in a trip to Pyrenees which is not massively better than my car on long runs.
Can you guys map any car which is mappable with a reasonable chance of more power/torque and better consumption or do you need to know the car for best results?

Stoich. 14.7:1 AFR.
This is your problem, it can't be changed. Niether can your economy. Why would it be better on fuel? The same power is required to cover the same distance at the same speed. Physics is physics. Buy a diesel

I don't want an oil burning rattling taxi, but thanks anyway.

Sorry, but I thought the whole point of mapping was in fact to achieve that ratio over the whole rev/load range, rather than having a generic map for the engine, giving you potentially more power and/or more economy depending on how it was driven.

You will need to cut out/remove the cats and have the car mapped to 16:1 AFR on cruise to see any decent gains in economy. Exhaust valves may not last forever, so budget in taking the cylinder head off and putting some valves in it at some point.
Or stop being tight and just put the fuel in? I suppose taxi drivers aren't daft buying diesels for economy.

Only real way to know if mapping would benefit economy above 3k ( this is generally where the Lambda sensor stops altering Stoich 14.7 etc) would be to see what its current AFR tables are, who knows, the manufacturuer might of made 3-5 k quite rich, 13 etc, im just talking out loud, but as said, economy getting worse is usually a fault of some other factor if its generally an "economical" car
