how much of a switchable map do you need, just a different boost setting or do you need boost and timing adjustment as well?

16bit cars can use the carberry rom (speed density support, scary antilag and spark or ignition cut launch control) or you can get a more basic patch for just switching boost levels:

I'd be quite interested to know about this too. Also on the same car.

If you already have a map can you add the carberry rom to the ECU without the current map being overridden and just add LC & AL for example?

no carberry is a totally custom rom written by Jason over on RomRaider. Its now released as a patch to the group-n rom which you then need to import your settings too.

because its speed density based you couldn't drag and drop settings and tables form a MAF based rom into it you have to start mapping from scratch.

If you already have a map, you could use the file patch from ecu-mods to add some functionality though if you wanted a basic map switch for some reason.
