Default CEL light mystery

I hope someone can help, or throw in some suggestions; I had an oil service and all coolant hoses changed, and a cam belt, on my stage 1 05 wagon. I then had a map tweak. The light came on after 200 odd miles, and was diagnosed as the lamda; replaced that. Light back on on drive home, 20 miles. Later that week, had map checked on RR, all good except misfire code, so replaced gearbox neutral switch, and spark plugs. Misfire code back on within 5 miles, cylinders 1 and 3. I don`t/can`t keep throwing money at sensors/ignition if I can help it. Thanks.

Yes, my next thought! Ran fine today, until this evening when light is on again. Another funny thing is that if you rev it in neutral, it bounces off 4000 rpm as if there is a rev limiter; there are no other features mapped in.

Does it actually misfire or just throw the misfire codes? Did you file the washer down on the NPS switch to get it to sit further into the gearbox?

I think it is just throwing misfire codes, as I have not felt a strong misfire; on boost at approx. 3600 rpm it has faintly stuttered, but the light has also flashed at 40 mph and 2000rpm. Replaced the crank sensor today, but the light still came on. At a bit of a loss on what to do next. I don`t know if the washer was filed down.

Have you spoke to your mapper about it, and were the plugs gapped correctly to 0.65mm?

Still on going; coil packs suggested, but this is getting expensive. Ignition dwell angle has been suggested, also earthing. No misfire, just lumpy off boost. Still throwing misfire codes. All help appreciated

I did not get the codes, but they were variously for cylinders 1,2, and 3, I think.

So whoever supplied you the first replacement NPS should be accountable in some way should they not? If you paid for a new one then there is some sort of expectation that it works properly???'
