Default loss of power, idle shakes the car, exhaust note abnormal

Hi All,

I have a 2003 impreza WRX and have an issue has just cropped up.

The car is about 50% under powered, when idling the whole car shakes and the exhaust note sounds funny.

My first thoughts are that the o2 sensors have gone? What makes things more difficult is that one of the black connectors for reading the fault codes appears to have been pulled off my previous owner so I cant do a fault code read .

Any ideas as to what you think might be causing it? and is there any other way of reading the fault code with out taking it into a specialist?

Many thanks!

The connectors aren't used for code reading on a newage. You'll need to get an obd2 reader off ebay or similar.

Sounds like you have a significant engine problem, O2 sensor problem would not make it shake like that at idle, a lost cylinder would though
