Default Newage Prodrive ECU install DIY

So I've got a standard WRX wagon and have sourced all the genuine Prodrive parts to upgarde to 'Retro-fit' PPP spec. I have the following:

- Prodrive Y pipe for the intercooler

-Prodrive scrubber cat delete pipe (with heat shields to look OEM)

- Prodrive backbox

- Prodrive PPP ECU and key transponder as pictured (came with Prodrive certificate)

Thought I would make this into a DIY thread raising questions as they come-up for anyone else looking to do the same as all these parts are readily available.

First though I need a very simple but important question answered before I start. Do I fit the ECU and transponder then pair my 2 original keys by using the normal key pairing function on the alarm key pads as follows?

Arm then disarm the alarm, then enter the following.
*17856*91*2# and press each fob button once including the one which was working.

If so, how do I 'arm and disarm' the alarm if the PPP transponder won't talk to my original keys? Should I have received a circuit board (to fit into my original key) with the PPP ECU and transponder?
Would doing it this way mean I would only have 1 working key or can the second key be paired even though it has the original circuit board?

If this is the case, is the only other alternative to get the PPP ECU working with my car to get it coded with my WRX vin number etc?

Default found the chip!

Just answered my own question partly, had another look in the package and found this hidden away:

Lucky I double checked!

So this is the chip for the key, I'm suspecting that it cannot be updated or paired by the above procedure so I'm guessing that using this method I would be stuck with only one working key?

I know this is old now. But how did you get on with this? Did you just replace the chip in one of your existing keys and it starts the car?

Cheers

yeh bop that chip into your key - that way the supplied immobiliser box will recognise the key and give the ECU the all clear to start. However it's probably a lot cheaper now to just buy an openport lead and flash the PPP map onto the car.

Yep, replaced the ecu, imobiliser unit with key barrel chip sensor (as in pic) and chips in the keys and all works perfectly. As bludgod says easier to just copy the map but I wanted a pucker Prodrive version with certificate that came with the ECU

Thanks for the info My car is Prodrive, but had all the bits fitted a couple years after the car was bought and the ECU was mapped using ECUTek so is now locked from being open source mapped. I am venturing into the world of remapping so want to swap it out for a standard ECU to start tinkering

Got an ecu now thanks

Do you know an easy way of getting the transponder reader out of the metal cage it's inside. Looks like there are 4 security type bolts that you need a special tool for.

cut a slot in them and use an old fashioned slot head screw driver, I used a dremel with a cutting disc, took seconds.
