Do I need to remap with these mods?
Hi guys,
I'm just about to fit a replacement engine to my 1998 v4 sti type R. The engine is exactly the same (heads etc) just with forged pistons n rods.
I was thinking, at same time, if I added the following 3 mods, would I need to remap (as this would involve a new ecu etc and big cost......money I haven't got):
1. FMIC - surely this just cools the intake air which the standard ecu measures the temp of anyway ie. just like a colder day?
2. Induction kit - doesn't this just allows less restricted airflow to the turbo, but doesn't affect the amount of air coming in, so no affect on fuelling etc?
3. A decatted full system exhaust - doesn't this just get rid of the exhaust gasses faster AFTER the combustion process, so not affecting fuelling etc?
I might be talking complete rubbish, but if I do really need a remap, can you guys please explain the reasons why? Be gentle!!!
Thanks for any help/suggestions!
Cheers

You might get away without one but you won't optimise the mods if you don't. You don't need a new ECU, OEM can be mapped with ESL and includes MAFless, twin map, knock control, diagnostics, closed loop idle, ALS, LC, TC, FlatShift, etc etc. Prices from £295+VAT.
