Ecu compatibility
Hi guys bit of a noob question. How can I tell what version engine I have in my car? I have a w reg 2000 turbo. I'm guessing that my vin plate will hold the answer but what am I looking for? Secondly I've been looking at ecu's on the bay. Would fitting a standard sti ecu to my car improve engine power and performance? Would the map on a sti ecu work well with my car. All help will be hugely appreciated. Cheers guys

From your picture it looks like a v5/6.
you can fit an sti ecu by swapping the fuel pump pin and cam and crank sensor wiring but I wouldnt advise it as you will kill the engine for numerous reasons.. different turbo, cams, pistons etc etc
Cheapest option is a ppp ecu.. best option is to get your current ecu remapped to suit any mods you have
